Chemical Agents
For the purpose of clarity the term Chemical Hazard is used to describe such a compound that exists in the form of a solid, liquid, vapour or gas and such a compound is deemed by its chemical composition to constitute a hazard to the general good health of humans and animals.
A substance that is deemed to be hazardous to health includes preparations, natural or artificial and which are classed as being either;
- Very toxic.
- Toxic
- Harmful
- Corrosive
- Irritant.
- Requires the implementation of occupational exposure limits.
- Is a Biological hazard - See Biological Hazards.
- Is a dust or particle of any kind except dust which is a substance within that contained above, when present at a concentration in air equal or greater than;
- 10 mg/m3 as a time-weighted average over an 8-hour period of inhalable dust, or
- 4 mg/m3, as a time-weighted average over an 8-hour period, of respirable dust.
There are currently- 9 (Nine) Classes into which the above mentioned fall within and for a better explanation, please click on the relevant navigation bar on the left to view the appropriate Chemical Class listing.
